let the whole world know
Her legs carried her over the ground and she felt the snow move under her paws, and spray over the ground around her. She trotted along in silence her heart aching. She knew the apprentices were in good paws with Rowanpaw and Pheonixfeathers. And she knew that she needed this name, and this rank more than anything now that Mutestorm was gone. She flicekd her tail and her claws dug into the ground beneath the snow. She thrust herself forward gaining speed and momentum as she raced down the hill toward the moon pinnacle. She could see the moon shimmering above her and she knew she was late. her heart pounded at the thought, Maybe Mutestorm will be in Starclan this time. Her heart leaped and een in her weariness she quickened her pace and let a smile light her face. She could almost smell him now, see his warm smile, and kind eyes. She missed him so much. She slid to a stop just outside the pool and looked up at the stars. She watched them glow and fade, and seeing them there, she could slmost pick out which star belonged to whom. She caught sight of one, and her heart caught in her throat. She knew, just knew that it was Mutestorm's star, and it's bright light brought her hope. She shivvered with excitement, and then the thought struck her. Just because you've found his star, doesn't mean that he will ever make it to the new lands... She felt dispair surge over her, and she wilted. Her eyes closed and she wanted to cry out with all the pain that surrounded her.
Today is a day of reckoning let the weak be strong,
Her heart seemed to break all over again. I'll never see him again... She thought. And with that she knew she would steel herself to be the best medicine cat Iceclan had ever seen. Wingedpaw steped into the shallow pool and moved forward through the waters. They weren't cold, but they weren't exactly warm. Unbeknownst to the cats the shallow pool was the surface of a very deep hot spring, so the waters kept from freezing, but that didn't mean it was something you could stay in for long. She padded across the water and found a dry spot near the pinnacle. She lay down tucking her now damp paws under her chest andstretched her neck out. She felt the cold grab her nose before her eyes closed. She let the feeling seep into her and she sighed with comfort as she drifted into sleep. She knew she would wake in Starclan, and hopefully Spottedpelt would be there to greet her. She opened her eyes and stood in a small clearing near the Iceclan camp. She flicked her ears and tail turning trying to find ome sense of where she was. She shook her pelt, and felt moonlight shine on her. She saw the shimmering light then and lifted her face to it's brilliance. Then a presence surrounded her. She felt it and smelled it before she saw the she cat. Then she was there before her. Spottedpelt stood in her brilliant glory. her white pelt spotted with black shimmered light starlight, and her brilliant green eyes seemed to look right through Wingedpaw. She smiled at the apprentice and spoke softly."We have been waiting for you Wingedpaw." She said. She moved forward and touched noses with the apprentice. "We have been looking forward to this day for so long."[/s]Wingedpaw felt a surge of power and life as the medicine cat touched her and she knew she as where she was supposed to be. She smiled and looked around her noticing now all the cats that surrounded her. She flicked her ears and smiled as she recognized medicinecats from Iceclan. She had met a few, and others she had heard about.
let the right be wrong roll The stone away, let the guilty pay,
Besides Spottedpelt, there was Rainwhisper, Heartwing, Crosswind, and Feathershock, just to name a few. She dipped her head to the spotted cat before her and heard a questions posed on the wind. Not from one cat in particular, but it seemed to be asked from the very depths of the heart of Starclan itself."Do you promise to uphold the code of the clans, but above that the code of the medicine cat? Do you stand to aid any cat in pain, either physical, emotional, of spiritual? Do you hold true that you cannot help all cats, that sometimes Starclan calls cats to return to us? Do you hold true that you will never be allowed a mate or kits, for your heart must remain for those in your clan? Where do you stand Wingedpaw?"Her eyes fell on to Spottedpelt. She looked into the eyes of her mentor's mentor, and she thought deeply, before she answered the barage of questions. She flicked her tail and lifted her head. "I stand on a heart of strength and honor, given to me by my mentor, Mutestorm. I hold true to the code of the clans, and to the medicine cat code. I will aid any cat in pain. Clan doesn't matter to me, and I understand the Starclan must call some cats home upon their time." She said and looked at Spottedpelt. She thought of her mothers mentor, Russeclaw, the clan deputy, who had been stolen away by ravens seasons ago. "I will hold back my desires for a mate and kits, because my heart is full of love for my clan, and their well being. I will not allow it to be clouded by lust." She looked up and satw a star growing brighter, stronger and she knew that it was hers. She smiled, and looked into the eyes of Spottedpelt as the shecat came forward again and placed her head on top of Wingedpaws. "Then, by the power of Starclan, I give you your new name, and new status, Wingedpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Wingedpetal, Medicine cat of ICeclan." She leaned forward and licked Spottedpelt's shoulder and felt cold stone before her. She opened her eyes and found herself in the pool again.
it's independence day
Her heart soared lightly and she leaped to her pws. She could hear the cats calling all around her in the wind. Wingedpetal, Wingedpetal! They were screaming her name, and she would answer. She turned and raced across the pool her paws barely breaking the surface. She raced up the hill and paused to take a breath. She felt her heart soar above the clouds and then she looked around. "I am Wingedpetal. Full Medicine cat of Iceclan." She called tot eh skies before she took a breath and began her return trip to camp. Something stoped her half way down the hill though. A scent blown to her by the winds of chance. Changed, aged, but still the same. She let her eyes grow wide with surprise as she stoped midstride and looked down the hill and into the trees. It couldn't be...Starclan please! She bgged them but the scent didn't leave her. She finally allowed her voice ot break the silence, and she whispered a word so heart wrenching in it's tone, anyone would be able to see her heart behind it. "...Mutestorm..."
