Sootstar smiled into the fading sunlight as she slithered out of her den towards the High Ledge. There hadn't been an apprentice or warrior ceremony since long before the Great Move. Now that Sootstar had recieved her name, lives and powers from Star Clan, she would be able to recognise the skills of Snow Clans apprentice and to grant the kits the right to begin officialy training. A shiver of excitement and nerves sent ripples through her moonlit silver fur. Her azure blue eyes glowed as she signalled for Treebark to join her. Both Treebark and herself would become mentors again tonight, and so would many other Snow Clan warriors. She leapt nimbly up half of the jutting High Ledge, and then again to reach the top. The black stripe along her back and tail was dark as coal as the sun disappeared. For a moment, she watched the elders, warriors, apprenticecs and occasionally an adventerous kit coming and going in the camp below her. She smiled again and then yowled 'May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the High Ledge for a clan meeting' Her voice echoed through the rocky hollow loud enough for even cats outside to hear. Tonights ceremonies were long overdue.
//Please PM me if you need a mentor/apprentice, and let me know if you've chosen a name for your character, or if you want me to chose.

Yawning, a stocky she-cat slipped out of her den and turned to look for the source of the summons. Sootstar. Right. Her long, fluffy pelt slightly rumpled from her nap, Snowflower took her place in front of her leader. She absentmindedly started licking her ginger, brown, and silver tabby fur. When it looked half-way presentable, she scraped her tongue against the roof of her mouth to scrape the loose hairs off it. Blegh. Having finished starting another hair ball, the large she-cat turned her attention back to her leader. She assumed a ceremony of some sort was being held. Apprentices being named, or warrior names being given. She wondered vaguely whether she'd be named a mentor. She got a sadistic enjoyment out of bossing around younger cats, and besides, it'd be one more thing to rub in Falconflight's face. Who she hadn't seen since he headed out on a patrol.

Treebark slithered out the warrior's den and take a deep refreshening breath of air. It's good to inhale the misty fresh scent of the snowfields once again. He watched a cloud of fog appear and disappear as he sighed. He was sleeping when he heard the voice of Sootstar call out a meeting. Even deputies need their rest. His whiskers twitched in content and delight as he heard the familiar traditional phrases, it's been awhile since he heard one from his leader, and one specifically called for his own clan. Waving his droopy eyes away with a hard shake of his head, he sat down on a dry patch of land near the high ledge. Though he could already guess what the leader wanted to announce, and he was happy for the news. The good always comes after the bad, today, fully settled in the clans, the warriors of SnowClan are as well-fed as can be. Even more than they have been in their old camp. Treebark twisted around to straighten a patch of bed-fur on his back, determined to look as can be for this ceremony.
====
Large grey-white ears flicked in the direction of the high ledge as the voice of Sootstar filled the camp with the traditional words for the call of a meeting. Damppaw was slowly savouring a juicy fat mole from the fresh-kill pile after finishing his apprentice duties. But having heard the announcement, he gulped down his mole so fast, he almost choked. Hastily, getting a drink of water in a nearby puddle, he rushed to the area around the high ledge, galloping as fast as he can with a full stomach.
He was happy to see his leader on the high ledge once again, giving an announcement to SnowClan like in the old days. Too often he has seen leaders of the other clans addressing his clan like his own. Too many moons he had the stench of GlacierClan, IceClan and ArcticClan stuck in his fur, and too many times he had to clean it off. And yet, now there he was, in SnowClan. Purely SnowClan.
His golden eyes looked around for the familiar pelt of ginger and white, and nose gently sniffing the air for the bitter-sweet scent of leaves, grass - herbs. But he can't seem to spot his friend anywhere nearby. Shrugging it off, thinking she must be out collecting herbs again, he focused on the grey leader on the ledge, awaiting news.

Twinkletoes was carrying a rabbit between his teeth as he emerged into the Snow Clan camp just in time to hear Sootstar calling a clan meeting. He hurried his way into the nursery and placed the fresh-kill before his mate Shadowmoon. ' I'll be back straight after the meeting to tell you what Sootstar said. Eat that rabbit, for you and our kits.' He pressed his mahogany muzzle first to the top of Shadowmoon's head, and then against her enormous belly where his unborn kits were still growing. They were due anytime. Wildshadow had thought they would've come beofer now, but they hadn't. Twinkletoes backed out of the nursery and joined the rest of the clan below the high rock. He sat beside Streakpaw and looked up expectantly at his leader. This was the firsrt clan meeting which had been called since she'd recieved her nine lives adn leader name from Star Clan. Every cat could see the anticipation and excitement in her eyes. Sootstar was shivering neverously as the cats emerged fromt he various dens to gather beneath her. She'd seen it a thousand times before; but never from this potition, with the power Star Clan had given her to name apprenitces and warriors. The though sent a thill of excitement through her, rippling her silver-blue pelt. Drawing in a deep breath, she yowled, 'The journey to this promised land has taken much out of us. We have found a new territory which provides for us much better than the forest where we were beofre. To get here though, many cats lots their lives. Look up to Silver Pelt now, see the star's of our Ancestors shining down at us, and remember what they have done for us.' Sootstar's own thoughts were away in Star Clan, thinking of Tigerstar and Autumnstar, and of what they had told her during her Leader ceremony a few nights ago. She found her sky blue eyes scanning the eager faces looking for Seakit. 'By naming apprenitces, we show that Snow Clan will survive and remain strong. It has been many moons since any kits have been named apprentices, or apprenitces named warriors. It is time to refresh our ranks.' Looking at Streakkit, she called his name. 'Streakkit, come forward. From this moment on until he had earned his warrior name, this Apprentice shall be known as Streakpaw.' She loved to see the expression on thier faces when kits became apprentices.' Snowflower you are now ready to take on an apprentice. You will be mentor to Streakpaw. Snowflower you have proved over and over that you have great skill and loyalty, and I hope that you pass your knowledge to this apprenitce.' She looked at the two of them as they stepped forward and reached down to touch their shoulders.

Streakkit stood up from his spot on the ground, slowly padding over to the rest of the cats as Sootstar called the first clan meting since she became SnowClan's leader. Sitting down at the front of the crowd, he gazed up at his leader. He had never been to a clan meting before, and his spine was tingling with excitement.
Just as Sootstar began the meting, Twinkletoes sat down next to him. Streakkit didn't notice him, he was too busy trying to be calm. Words soon filled his mind, the voice of Sootstar finally speaking. His tail twitched as he heard the words he had been waiting six moons for:
'By naming apprentices, we show that Snow Clan will survive and remain strong. It has been many moons since any kits have been named apprentices, or apprentices named warriors. It is time to refresh our ranks.'
The words kept echoing in his mind, suddenly replaced by new thoughts as Sootstar said the one line that Streakkit always dreamed of.
'Streakkit, come forward.'
Stepping forward slowly, he sat down, waiting patiently for the next few words.
'From this moment on until he had earned his warrior name, this Apprentice shall be known as Streakpaw.'
The moment he had always dreamed of, the thing he had always wanted. It had finally happened. But wasn't it every cat's dream to achieve the next rank in the clan? He wasn't even listing to the next part, his mind was detached from the world for the few seconds before Snowflower sat down next to him.

Snowflower listened politely as Sootstar spoke, though she pretty much knew gist of what the speech would be before the leader said anything. New territory, blah blah blah, remain strong, duh duh duh duh duh.
Streakkit's name was called. She sat a little straighter in her spot while her long tail twitched expectantly. Would he be made her apprentice? Almost holding her breath, she waited for the next part of the ceremony. Pick me, pick me, pick me. . .
"Snowflower you are now ready to take on an apprentice. You will be mentor to Streakpaw. Snowflower you have proved over and over that you have great skill and loyalty, and I hope that you pass your knowledge to this apprentice."
Yes. The stocky she-cat stepped forward with a broad, triumphant smile on her face. Ha ha! Snowflower 1, everybody else with no apprentice 0. Stretching her head down, she touched her nose to the ginger and white tom's. Just wait 'til Falconflight hears this. . .
"I'll do my best," she promised.

Warmheart's eyes opened as she heard a yowl. "Mousedung." She cursed herself for sleeping in. She hastily shook her pelt and raced out into the clearing. She stopped and sat down to listen. She watched the young kit step forward and recieve a mentor. Warmheart smiled as she remembered watching Tigerstar do that all those moons ago. It made her heart ache thinking about the tom. "Oh Tigerstar..." She murmured. The older femme shook her head.
It was getting to be that time in her life when she was getting old. She knew she needed to become an elder soon, because her strength was failing. She looked around andnoticed how much younger everyone else looked, and knew she should become an elder today. I should tell Sootstar.
Warmheart stood up and looked at Sootstar. "Umm, Sootstar? If I could just say this. I've been a warrior for many seasons, and I feel my strength failing. I was hoping you could make me an elder." She sat down again, looking at the leader.

[TIGERHEART]Yawning widely, the tiger-striped she-cat slipped from the warrior's den, rubbing one of her eyes with her tail while padding across the clearing at Sootstar's call. Opening both her eyes, she gazed around the camp, trying to find her mate, but to no anvil. Letting out a low breath, Tigerheart sat down on the edge of the crowd, eyes moving towards Snowflower as the she-cat became a mentor to Streakpaw. A grim smile crossed her face as she suddenly thought of Angelpaw. StarClan, how she missed that spunky little she-cat. Much like Brambletail, her former apprentice could always cheer her up. Now of all moments she wished her alive again.
With her tail wrapped around her paws, Tigerheart's gaze moved around the camp again, then went to Sootstar, smiling softly at the gray she-cat. It was amazing how strong their leader was, having brought them through this with the rest. Standing slowly, the she-cat padding through the cats, coming to the new mentor's side. "Congradulations, Snowflower. Streakpaw looks like she'll be great fun" She mewed, smiling.

Sootstripe's pale eyes lit up as she felt the pride radiating from Streakpaw's pelt. She remembered feeling the same way herself when she were accepted into the caln and made an apprenitce so many long moons ago. As the new mentor and apprentice touched noses, she smiled and then looked out at all of the other cats, young and old mingled together. It was then that she noticed Warnheart was looking straight at her. 'I was hoping you could make me an elder.' [/strike] Sootstar dipped her head in acknowledgement. Warmheart had been Tigerstar's mate for a while, and was a warrior who's advide and guidance Sootstar had always sought. She would miss seeing the elderly warrior training apprentice's in the hollow, partoling alongside her and bounding through the forrest chasing squirells and mice. She would save that ceremony until last. One the cheering had died down, she looked for the next star of the show. 'I have decided that I shall take an apprentice. Seakit, step forwards. From this day forward until she has earned her warrior name, this apprenitce will be known as Seapaw. I promise to pass on all of my knowledge to you.' Soostripe stepped forwards and touched her nose to Seapaw's. Quietly, so that nobody else could here, Soosttripe whispered to her 'I will show you the footsteps which the previous leaders followed and giude you around the placed where the fell' She brushed Seapaw's shoulder with her tail, and stood back up on the high-rock. 'We have named the new appreitces, and now it is time to make some of our apprentices warriors. Those who recieve their names travelled from the old territory and have proved above any apprentices before, that they deserve to be recognised by Star Clan as warriors of Snow Clan. Damppaw, step forwards.' Sootstar had taught Damppaw skills of a warrior while he was still a kit in the nursery. They'd trained together since too, but Autumnstar had allocated Skyheart his mentor. 'Skyheart, are you satisfied that this apprenitce has trainined to the best of his ability and is ready to become a warrior?' When the warrior replied that he was ready, Sootstar began the next part of the ceremony. 'Then I, Sootstar, leader of Snow Clan call upon my warrior ancestors to look down at this apprenitce. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him a warrior in him turn.Damppaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?' Sootstar waited for the two words which Damppaw had been waiting to say for moons. She was just as excited as he was, to make on of the first warriors in the new terriotory, but also because it was the first time she'd ever spoke the words of this ceremony.

Wildshadow sat in the crowd of cats. She was excited to see all the other cats and that they had found a new home, but didn't like the fact her apprentice had not returned yet. She was hoping that she could of been appointed as offical medicine cat apprentice. But Wildshadow herself was not an offical medicine cat either. She sat watching her leader. She still could not believe all the events that had lead up to Sootstar's role. She did not understand how she could be so strong. Wildshadow's ear's picked up when she heard Damppaw being mentioned. She smiled softly, Damppaw was always a great help to her. She felt proud to see him get his warrior name.
Thornclaw lay in the opening of the warriors den. She joints were stiff from all the walking so she watched the ceremony from there. She chuckled under her breath when Gingerkit hadn't been made an apprentice. Maybe he really was useless to the clan. She put her head on her paws and worried about her daughter who had left to be a rouge. Cloud had always been an outsider, but wasn't that too far? She should of been up there just now claiming her apprentice name and mentor.

((eek! Sorry for replying this one month late))
Damppaw stepped up unconsciously when he heard his name. It was only a few seconds later that he snapped out of his trance and realize the weight of the situation. W--what? Me? His feet brought him up nobly to his leader but his insides were squirming with surprise and unease. He can feel the everycat's stare underneath his fur, and in return, he gave them a nervous smile as he padded up to Sootstar. The leader formally announced the words of the ceremony. That one ceremony that he have been waiting for his whole life. Looking in his leader's eyes, his once overly large golden eyes gleamed with a mixture of emotions. Happiness, excitement, nervousness, surprise... it was no wonder why the grey-white cat was at such unease. Urm. He gave a small stutter, his timid and silent nature showing after many moons of acting tough for his Clan. He gulped. "I do." He finally stuttered, giving a small nod of his head, accepting. Damppaw's eyes drooped, not able to initiate eye contact with anyone, even his own leader.

A small ginger and white apprentice stepped into the Snowclan camp carrying a bundle of herbs in her jaws. As she entered she noticed the commotion around her leader and instantly knew that she had missed the start of a meeting. The ginger and white she-cat rushed to store the herbs, careful to not destract any of the cats listening, and returned to see what was being said. Whilst she returned she realised that it wasn't a normal meeting, but a cerimony. As she glanced at the soon to be warrior who was about to be named she recognised the white pelt of her friend Damppaw. All of a sudden her heart was filled with pride for her friend, but also a pang of envy as she realised she wouldn't have this cerimony, but one away from her clanmates when she would follow a different path. She glanced at her twisted leg for a moment then returned her gaze to Damppaw, hoping that he of noticed her returned and know she hadn't missed his warrior cerimony

Sootstar smiled as she saw CAstingpaw creep in through the camp enterance. She knew partly how much Damppaw meant o Castingpaw. She wouldn't have wanted to hiss his warrior ceremony. She turned her icy blue gazle back to the almost warrior before her. Every hair on her pelt and his pelt quivered with excitement as Damppaw replied 'I do.' 'By the powers of Star Clan I give you your warrio name. Damppaw, from this moment on, you shall be known as Dampcloud. The clan honour your many talents, courage and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full member of Snow Clan.' Sootstripe reached forward and rested her muzzle on Dampcloud's shoulder and whispered only loud enough for him to hear,'Thank you. Congratulations Dampcloud.' Sootstar spoke the words of the ceremony with pasion. Dampcloud was the most deserving cat in the clan. He should have been given his warrior name long ago, but still, everone knew that he was a worthy warrior. Sootstripe joined in the chorus of cats shouting 'Dampcloud'. It was for Gingerkit next. The tiny finger kit of Thornclaw's. Sootstripe felt srry for Thornclaw having had a daughter wh'd left the clan and pledged her allegiance instead to the murderous rouges. Cloud always had been distant and cold-hearted, and nobody ever knew why. Maybe tis was her way of expressing a forgotten loss or something...
