[My darling, we're both on the wing]
Mossmask gave Mythflight another slow blink accompanied with a gentle smile; the unspoken apology had been heard and accepted. Of course, the older she-cat never really wished to demand an apology; Mythflight's actions that night had been understandable to Mossmask.
She barefly flicked her ears at Mythflight's question to Hunterstealth, yet a twinkle in her eyes shone briefly at the curious thought. She recalled how amusing it had been to dwell on her warrior name when she had been only an apprentice. Mossheart and Mosswing had been a couple of her favorite possibilities. Mossmask, in the end though, had the perfect ring to it.
She was about to make her own comments on the subject, but a trio of familiar scents hit her nose, and she didn't have the time to speak.
"I wasn't aware so many of you were on guard duty tonight."
Mossmask beamed at the sight of her son standing tall and proud, grinning himself as he looked back at the trio of warriors, his emerald eyes locked on her jades. She wanted to ask so many questions, but the first that blurted out was, "Were you three warm enough on the journey?"
Bramblestar chuckled. "You're such a mom," he chided. "I believe we were all just fine." He looked over to Mythflight and Hunterstealth, nodding to both while also giving Sprintpaw a glance.
[Look down and keep on singing]
"I wanted to tell you both," he said to his foster brother and Hunterstealth. "Tawnysongs still looks amazing, and she loves and is proud of you both. Many of our other clanmates were present as well." His eyes roamed over toward Mythflight with meaning. "They all are doing just fine.
"And Flowerbloom also wanted me to greet you," Bramblestar said, turning back to Mossmask. "I believe that was all the messages... I'm sure StarClan'll pelt me with dreams if I missed anyone..."
Mossmask was only half listening, but her eldest son's next words started her out of her zone: "Dad also looks great." He stepped forward and nuzzled Mossmask. "Just thought you'd might like to know."
"Thank you," she murmured. A moment's hesitation washed over the clearing until Mossmask spoke again. "Are you three hungry? Were you hurt on the way to the Moon Pinnacle? Did you--"
"Mom, we're fine," Bramblestar said, rolling his eyes in good-nature toward Cherubimpaw and Sprintpaw.
"Alright, whoever was originally on guard duty, I'm relieving you," the new leader said, his tone neutral, yet ordering no arguments. "I'm wide awake and have a lot to think about. I suggest the rest of you get some sleep."
Mossmask smiled and dipped her head to Bramblestar. "Very well," she said. "Good night." She nodded to Mythflight and Hunterstealth before giving Cherubimpaw and Sprintpaw a nuzzle and a lick on the head.
Bramblestar smiled after his mother, and turned it to the remaining quartet in the clearing. "I'll see you all in the morning. And thank you."
[And we can go anywhere]
