Waking was a slow process for the deputy. His eyes were still shut as his body stirred, his tail flicking behind him as his senses woke along with his body. And he was hit, no not with the scent of his daughter's blood, or the scent of his sister's pelt pressed against him. Oh, no. It was so much better. The scent of Sapphirestar clung to his pelt, make a shiver run down his spine. He blinked his eyes open, raising his head and scenting the air. All he could smell was his mate. A smile crossed his face as he slowly pulled himself to his paws, his muscles and joints popping and cracking with every move. Gah, was he sore! Well, he did abuse himself for a few moons, trying to keep both Lynxpounce and Silentpaw around him and protecting both the cats. The deputy let a slow breath out, shaking his head to clear his thoughts and take a step forwards.

As he exited the den, and the bright sunlight shone right in his eyes, he groaned, wanting to slide back into the den and sleep for eternity. But he couldn't, and Taintedfaith knew that. He needed to get back to his duties. At that thought, his stomach decided to grumble. Over the journey, he had lost much of his weight, though he was still mainly muscle. He trotted across the camp on almost uneasy paws, glancing around as he noticed a few faces. He could just barely remember them. Waving his tail, the deputy reached the fresh kill pile, then paused. It wasn't right to take prey now. He hadn't caught any for his Clan.. But his stomach wouldn't allow him to go back without. Taintedfaith let out a sigh, then bent down to grab the smallest mouse, making his slow walk back towards the leader's den, laying down outside the den and staring at the mouse.

And that was all he did. Stare at it. And remembered how much Silentpaw had loved mice. No, not eating them. But playing with them, never hurting them. With that thought in mind, he pushed the mouse away, lowering his head onto his paws and closing his eyes. "I wish I had had more time with you, my little girl" The deputy whispered to himself, a slow breath escaping his jaws.

Her eyes were clear as crystals, and blue as sapphires as she padded into camp the last of her catch from her patrol in her jaws. She hadn't been able to carry it all back in one trip and so when she slipped in after her second trip and saw her mate returning to her den she felt her heart leap. She lay her catch down and grabbed a blackbird from the pile, before trotting over to her mate. She sat down beside him her fur brushing against his and his against hers. she didn't say anything for a moment. She looked at him, and tilted her head. "She wouldn't want you to live like this." was all she said before reaching out and pulling the mouse back toward him. "I caught enough for two cats today. "Eat, and relax, my love. You will see her again someday." She leaned over and licked his ear. and looked into his golden eyes. "You still have your clan, I'm sure she forgave you for not having so much time with her. It wasn't your fault...you didn't know anymore than she did." she nudged his shoulder with her head and licked his ear again. "I love you Taintedfaith, please come back to me." She mewed pressing her head against his shoulder and letting a purr come from her chest.

Taintedfaith's eyes, which had been closed before, opened slightly as he heard someone approaching, noticing it to be Sapphirestar. He smiled gently at her, well, attempted to. It was hard to do when he still had his daughter on his mind. He should have known she was Solara's daughter. She looked exactly like her mother. Once again, when the mouse was pushed towards him, his brushed it aside. "I can't eat... Silentpaw always loved mice. She never preyed on them, and asked me never to.. I have to keep that promise to her" He murmured, staring at the creature. He shook his head, looking up at Sapphirestar. Hoe could he have left her for such a mission? He'd been asking himself that every day. And to have dragged Lynxpounce out, away from her mate.. It was horrible thing for him to have done. Staring at his paws again, he barely felt the soft caresses his mate placed upon him, aching in a place where nothing could heal.

And my, had he changed. Before his journey, the deputy was naive. But now, it was like he was looking through new eyes. He turned towards his leader, his mate, the one cat he wished he shared a child with, and pressed his cheek against hers, letting her scent wrap around him and sooth him, even if it was only a tiny bit. At least it was still soothing. "I love you more then you know, Sapphirestar. I'll try my best to be who you need me to be" He murmured, pulling back. He grabbed the mouse by it's tail, gingerly in his teeth, padding slowly back to the pile to drop it down, then paused a moment, letting a slow breath out. He turned back towards his mate. As soon as he reached her, he pressed his pelt against hers, pulling her head under his chin and letting a soft breath out. Next child I have will be showered in love, and never given away...

Sapphirestar's heart went out to her mate. She felt his pain as if it was her own. She flicked her ears as he stood and walked away from her the limp mouse in his jaws. She lowered her head and closed her eyes praying softly 'Starclan bring him back to me...you brought his physical body back, but his spirit is gone...show me how to help him..." She looked up as he walked back to her and she smiled lightly as he spoke the words she had longed to hear for moons. She sighed and leaned into his embrace and drank in his scent. She looked at the Blackbird in her paws. "Share with me love?" She asked and pushed the bird between them. She looked around camp and then up at her mate again. "I think we should go on a walk...there are some things we need to discuss." She mewed. Her mind had just fluttered with an idea. One that could perhaps offer him a second chance. A way to bring him back to her. She wasn't sure if it was from starclan, or if it was only her vague attempt at having him back to her. She would offer him a chance at Fatherhood.
But she would find out his thoughts. She flicked her ears and licked her mates chest comfortingly. Please come back... She thought and then his words dawned on her... "I'll try my best to be who you need me to be." She closed her eyes thinking, and realized that those words scared her than his disappearance had moons earlier.

She lifted her head opening her Sapphire blue eyes and stared into his golden ones. "I don't want you to be anything other than yourself." She said her voice strong with conviction and power. She didn't want him to be what she needed. She needed him to be what he had been before he left. She needed her loving mate, and her heart beat, her breath of life. She sighed and breathed in his scent again. Oh how she had missed him. how she had missed that scent, that pelt, that voice. Everything. She looked around camp, and seeing no one bent to eat the bird. When she had finished her half she stood licking the blood from her lips and waited for him to finish. "Come." was all she said before walking off toward the entrance and slipping through it to wait for him on the other side.

His eyes misted slightly as he closed his eyes and leaned against his mate. It was more then obvious what GlacierClan's higher powers were to each other. Taintedfaith let out a slow breath as he bent his head down, taking small bites of the bird before pulling back to look at Sapphirestar. "Then that is what I'll be" He murmued softly, burying the bones of the bird before he stood. The deputy watched as his leader made her way towards the entrance. His eyes moved around the camp, longing to go talk to Midnightdawn. But that would wait. No doubt, the Medicine cat would want to check on his wounds. Speaking of wounds, his were throbbing as he started towards the entrance after his mate, tail flicking back and forth behind him as he slipped through the entrance, meeting up beside he she-cat.

"What did you need to talk about, my sweet?" He asked, brushing his pelt against hers as he walked forwards with a slight limp. Taintedfaith paused, eyes looking around. He had no idea which way would be the best to go. Turning towards Sapphirestar, he raised a slight eyebrow. "Would you mind leading..? I'm a bit.. Unfamiliar with the territory.. The snow's making a difference" He said with a slight chuckle, tail flicking across her cheek tenderly before he stepped back, his pelt brushing hers. He couldn't get enough of the soft feel of it. Pressing his muzzle to her ear and gave an affectionately lick.

Her eyes searched his for a moment before she flicked her ears toward the feirce winding creek that was just outside the entrance of the camp. She paused to hear his voice and feel his fur brush hers. She ignored his first question and nodded at the second taking a slight lead and folllowing the small creek as it wound through the territory. She came to the edge of the pine forest and she paused, This is the place. She mewed and turned to look at her mate, friend, and deputy. Her eyes softened as she watched him limp, and she felt bad for dragging him so far from camp, and knew she would hear about it from Midnightdawn. She lifted her head and looked to the sky willing Starclan to give her the words. She didn't know how to say this, but she knew the desire of his to have kits. She could live well without them, but he wanted them and that was what mattered. She looked back at her mate and let her eyes take on a shimmering glam as she listened to the gurgling of the creek behind her. She lifted her tail and pointed to the bend in the creek and spoke softly her words coming slowly but confidently.

"Just as the water comes to a bend and must change its course, so must we when an event changes the path in which we thought we would walk forever." She looked to the clouds in the sky and felt the wind brush over her pelt promising another snow storm in it's wings. "And just as the leaves change, and the snow comes then fades, so too must our lives ebb and flow like the river and world around us." She looked down her blue eyes glimmering in the sunlight and squared her shoulders. "And just like New leaf brings new life, so too are we granted the chancde to offer new life to our clan. A new heart a new life." She looked intently into his eyes and wondered if she was making any sense. She knew the next sentance would throw him for a loop if he knew her as well as she thought he did. She had no desire for kits, but would sacrifice anything to see her mate happy again. "I want to have your kits Taintedfaith." She said and took a small step forward to press her muzzle against his. She closed her eyes fearing his reaction and stayed their waiting for his answer.

His brows drew in as he followed after his mate, eyes filled with curiosity as he looked around his surrounding. It was so... Different. Would he ever get used to how unfamiliar he was with his own home? Most likely not. Letting a slow breath out, the dark tom shook out his pelt, then slipped forwards, his muscles already aching from the beatings he gave it from his travels. Taintedfaith paused as she stopped, flicking her tail towards the bend in the creek. He turned his head between the creek and his mate, brow furrowed more as he watched her. What was going through that pretty head of hers? His head cocked to the side as he watched her, sitting down slowly and shifting his weight off his sore side. Ears pricked, awaiting for his mate's words, he never expected what did, though. His golden eyes widened as he looked at her.

"Sapphirestar... Are you... Are you serious? I can't allow you to have my kits if it takes you away from leading our Clan.. " He trailed off, not sure what to say. His eyes flicked to the ground, then back up at Sapphirestar. He stepped towards her, pressing his muzzle close. "I want you to have my kits, love. I wouldn't dream of ever having them with anyone else. They wouldn't look like you" He murmured gently, nuzzling her cheek before pulling back to meet her gaze. "Only if you truly wish to. I don't want to take you away from what you love to do" The deputy murmured. Inside, he was jumping for joy. She wanted to have his kits!

Her eyes opened and she took a small step back her eyes focusing into his. She listened to his words and smiled lightly letting his words sink in. There was nothing she wanted more than to see him happy. "I want you to be happy, and if that means she had to sacrifice her joy for leadership for a few moons then so be it. She flicked her tail knowing he was right. He would never take her away from what she loved, if she didn't want to leave it. She lifted a paw and batted his ear. "Silly tom, I wouldn't have mentioned it if I didn't want it." She mewed keeping her doubts in check. She could feel his excitement like an apprentice ready to be warriored, and she smiled. She flicked her ears and moved forward and touched her nose to his. She sighed and breathed in his scent before moving back to look at him.
But never did a thing about it 'til I let you in.

She moved to sit beside him, on his good side. She leaned against him and pressed her shoulder into his before she licked his ear and sighed again. "I will do anyrhing to make you happy again. Sacrifice anything to see a smile light your face." She looked at him and smiled lightly. "A real smile. Not a tired one, but a real ear to ear grin." She mewed and looked into his eyes suddenly serious. "I will go to battle for you, I will lose all my lives for you...just to see you smile." She mewed and flicked her tail letting it rest on his haunches over his tail. She twined it with his and licked his ear affectionately before laying down beside him and flicked her ears. She crossed her paws in front of her and looked up at him, waiting for him to join her to look at the world around them.

He rolled his eyes slightly. Of course. They both wanted the other to do what they loved. Sapphirestar loved to lead her Clan, Taintedfaith... Taintedfaith loved being a father. His brief time as a father showed it. He smiled softly as she leaned against his good side. A purr came from his throat as he closed his eyes, wrapping his tail around her and holding her close. "You could just be saying that to keep me around" The deputy said with a slight smirk, looking down at her and raising an eyebrow at her before he nuzzled her ear, his muzzle brushing against the side of her head in a gentle caress, her scent wrapping around him and making him feel at peace again, finally. He didn't know how long it had been since he had last felt such peace before. Taintedfaith let out a slow breath, pressing against her.

"I'll help more with the Clan for you, love. You won't have to worry about much" He murmured, nuzzling her cheek. "As soon as I familiarize myself with the territory and everything, I'll be back in perfect order" He said with a grin, nuzzling her until he could push away, ignoring the pain as he jumped to his paws, padding a circle around her. "You will be a wonderful mother. Our kits will learn so much from us" He said, his paw still padding a circle around his mate.

[Blackbird singing in the dead of night]

Her eyes followed him, as he paced around her in a circle. She flicked her tail to the side and smiled up at her mate as he walked around her speaking. She let a yawn escape her lips and then looked at him again as he paced back in front of her. "Taintedfaith if you don't stop moving you are going to make me dizzy, not to mention that Midnightdawn is already going to have my whiskers for having you out so far from camp." She flicked her ears forward and smiled ruefully as he spoke about helping her with the clan. "All I need you to do is be my deputy..." She left a pause and smiled at him a look in her eye of pleading proportions, "...and my mate." She flicked her tail around her paws as she moved to a sitting position. She knew that soon a life would be growing within her, and as much as that scared her, she was ready to do anything to see that smile on her mate's face again. She lay back down lashing her tail away from her and stretching herself out on the ground. She lay on her belly and looked at her mate, a mischievous look in her eye before she flicked her tail and fluffed her fur out against the cold snow, wet ground, and freezing wind.
