it half biology half corrective surgery gone wrong. >>GEMs a cross between two evils -- The night created the best setting for him. In this time of low light, his eyes wouldn't sting as much. It sometimes created peace. But not always. Other times terrible things could happen while the sun hid its face.
Tonight, as Chupacabra lay outside in the weeds, the night was restful. His bright, lime green eyes reflected the moon light and acted almost as beacons. Tongue licked his front lips, unable to make it around his law jaw's teeth. A hunt would be nice.
The dark coloured tabby let out a low, soft meow. Going out alone was an impossible task. Something he wouldn't really consider doing, so meowing for others was involuntary.
What he did now was wait.

Take me for what I am Who I was meant to be Large brown paws hit the ground in a slow deliberate repeated pattern. She was alone. She didn't like it. She was a large brown tabby she-cat with top incisors so long they stuck out over her bottom jaw. Her claws were so long they hung out over the top of her paws. Body so thick she looked 16 moons, while in fact she was only 6. Her strong legs carried her in almost silent motion and her thick tail stood high about ehr back. She flicked her ears around at every sound around her like little sentries. Her heightened senses didn't help either, she could hear a leaf break loose from the top of a tree 300 yard in front of and above her. She could smell a mouse 20 feet under ground and pinpoint it's exact location within a forest of other smells. She could taste carrion before she was 20 feet from it. Her nose picked up the scent before her ears the sound. His scent was unmistakable. Masculine, but covered by the rank from the lab. She wasn't in his sector, but they had met before. His calling voice made her smirk and she followed her nose to his whereabouts, and finding herself behind him she moved up behind him, silently and waited.
Her muscles bunched under her fur and she pushed against the ground. Lifting her front feet into the air and over the back of the other cat, she pulled her feet away from the gound and her body curled in a high arch. Her mind wandered as she flew through the air in a perfect silent arch as to why this tom was out and about alone. Most on the grounds new better than that, of course she could ask herself the same question, but she didn't know why she was out here alone. Her electric blue eyes were focused on the shoulders of her quary. Her tail streamed out behind her like a banner of war flying over her, and sending a signal, and message to those whom she was after. Words: 354 Posting as: Swindler For: Chupacabra Muse: AWESOME!!! Notes: She is powerful, but she won't hurt him, she's just trying to surprise him. =>

Whoever would have thought that a kit, no bigger than a fern harboured muscle power which could withstand an attack from a twoleg's monster? The small, lithe body was no bigger than a vole, yet he could attack with the same force as a patrol of wild cats. Mako was pressed flat to the ground beneath a tree. He appeared to be hiding in the shadow, only he was darker than the shadow; his unnatural fur the deepest black ever seen. Mako loved it how everyone passed him by without noticing. At least that was until he opened his eyes. His startling blue eyes were amazingly bright, they semed to radiate their own light. From his spot under the tree the iridescent blue lights glowed. Mako pulled his body forward.
Mako could see the two figures in the small cclearing ahead. One extremly large and brown, the other a dark tabby with ridiculously long sabre-like teeth. Mako recgnised them both. They were only acquaintences, but it was better than being alone. Resheathing his eeirly black talons, she stood up to his full magnificentd height of two mouse-lengths and pushed his way through to the other escapees. No doubt his brother Flynn wouldn't be fall behind. Words: 219 Posting as: Mako For: Chupacabra and Swindler Muse: Not much Notes: I thought I'd join, seeing as they're always in large groups, but delete this if you don't want it.

our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises. -- Able to see the shadow that fell over him. Although in the night, her shadow was as prominent to him as it would be to another in daytime.
Despite the "warning," Chupacabra had no time to react before the other cat was on top of him. Instinctively hissed as he quickly pulled himself out of her grasp. For a heart-beat he was in a defensive crouch, claws unsheathed and teeth barred.
Suddenly, with a slight convulsion, he became more composed and seemed to have lost the surprise he had split-moments ago.
“Come hunting?” He suggested. Shuddered and then looked over his shoulder, able to spot a small creature—basically the size of prey. Senses told him otherwise.

Just talk yourself up then tear yourself down
Mako's slanted blue eyes opened wide when they met with Chupacabra's green orbs. If not for these GEM escapees, then Mako would be invisible to all living creatures. He was no bigger than a mouse, blacker than the deepest shadow and as fast as a bolt of lightning piercing the sky. This, combined with his hypnotising flourescent blue eyes made him the perfect preadator. Once, Mako had seen his reflection in a puddle. It was a trully terifying site. Every hair of his pelt was darkest black, but so were his claws, his teeth and the outer rims of his eyes. He was some kind of revived demon from a bygone reign of terror. Whay was it him who was chosen to look like the monster as well as behave like it? Outside, Mako was the fighter, the hunter. Inside, her was a scared wreck, terrified of the shadows, of even his own reflection. He was a mixed-up mess inside, but no one, except his brother Flynn knew that. He couldn't even show that to his own kind.
You've hit your one wall now find your way around
Mako stood up from under the tree, his full height not clearing the length of the grass. He began to head toward Chupacabra and Swindler. The tiny cat wasn't especially young. He knew how to make an enterance. He'd show Swindler the right way to introduce your company. Mako pushed through into the clearing, not making a show of himslef, nor trying to make himself any different to what he was. 'So hunting then? Mice or two-legs today? You two will definetly be needing more than just each other's company if your going far to hunt. I'll join you, and so will Flynn.' As usual, the mouse sized cat spoke for his much larger brother. Since seeing himself, Mako had wondered if Flynn was afriad of him. It would be pretty awful if his only brother got scared every time he saw him. Inside, Mako sighed, being careful not to let the other GEMs see.
Well what's the probelm? You've got a lot of nerve

She rolled over and came to her paws in a standing position. She moved like a flash into a sitting position and lifted her paw to groom her face. She stared at the tom as he spoke and then turned to look at Mako and Flynn. She nodded and flicked her ears slowly back and forth. She spoke, her words soft but full of self righteousness, "I don't need any help hunting for food." She said thinking of her siblings and mother that she had killed two moons previously. She raised her eyebrow and shook her shoulders back away from her chest. She lived for moments like this, moments in which she could show her strength and speed. "What shall we hunt now?" she asked lifting her nose and sniffing for scents around her.

I've been walking in the footsteps of society's lies
Mako sat down some distance fromthe other two genetically modified cats. Being so small was an enormous agvantage most o the time, but Mako sometimes felt that it made his see insignificant to other cats of his type. It felt like he was being looked down on, even though he was fast or faster, strong or stronger and much more of an effiecint hunter than other GEMs. He curled his ridiculously long tail twice around his paws and opened his eyes properly. Normaly, Mako had to be careful about his eyes; they gave him away, or because he ended up hypnotising someone without thinking about it. Only a handful of other beings in existance were immune to Mako's eyes. Not even all of the other GEMs could break the bond. A small smile flickered around his mouth, pulling back his lips revealing inky black teeth, tounge and lip insides. He smiled wider.
I don't like what I see no more
Mako stopped glaring at the bushes where his bother lay and turned his head to look at Swindler. He looked straight into her eyes, wondering how she would respond. He was thinking about her renouned hunting skills and was visualisin her attacking Chupacabra. He knew the consequences of what might happen but spared no thought for the sabre-toothed tom. Second thoughts and doubt led to hesitation. Hesitation led to being attacked. Survival instinct told him that that was not a good thing. If he lost concentration for a moment, then his prey would be free in the mind and he would have to rely on his physical abnormalities for attack. Although that didn't really pose much of a problem either. To distract Swindler and Chupacabra rom what he was doing, he answered her question in a monosylabalic way trying not to thinka about what to say. 'Hunt. Yes. Um...A deer?' Even though his speech was broken and robotic, he could see the effect he was having on his company.
Sometimes I wish that I was blind
And sometimes I don't

//Swindler\\ Take me for what I am Who I was meant to be Her electric blue eyes seemed to glaze over. She listened to the soothing sound of the wind in the trees, and the feel of the snow under her paws. She flexed her claws and was reminded of the feeling of flesh being torn by them. The feeling of blood flowing through her claws soaking into her fur. She desired that feeling again and the desire almost seemed to over take her. She flexed her claws and let them sink into the ground. It wasn't the same...there was no tortured cry, no warm squish of flesh. She shuddered again and looked around her needing desperately to claw a warm body. Her eyes fell first onto Mako but something told her that would be a bad idea even for his size. her eyes then found the still and quiet form of Chupacabra. In a moment she leaped seeing herself attaking him.
Her claws sank into flesh and she clawed and bit she felt him fight back, but nothing touched her, she was to fast, to strong. She mutilated his body. Shredding his shoulders and almost skinning him. She let out a fierce growl and sank her teeth into his neck. His cry echoed up around the she-cats ears soothing her, driving her on. His body writhed under her power, but as her jaws tightened and blood flowed over her tongue and down mouth turning her fur the brightest red he slowed and finally coughed and then was still. She gave a rough little shake and dropped his body to the ground. Nothing moved as she stared at him. She was confused as to what had happened but she didn't mind. She was powerful. Her eyes turned to Mako, his eyes still on her and she knew. She let a smile cross her lips, and her words fell forth with even, and calm tone, "next time you want me to do your dirty work...Just ask. I'll be happy to oblige." She mewed and moved back to where she had been sitting. She lifted her paw and began to clean the blood from her claws and face, relishing the metalic tang.

I'm not afriad that I'm bad for good
Mako watched as Swindlers unremarkable eyes turned blank and the large fighter sucumbed to hs wishes. As soon as she'd turned and puonced onto Chupacabras shoulder's, Mako let his thoughts slip out of her head and watched enthralled. Mako had given her her mind back, but Swindler had carried on to attack, and murder the aqquantance she had been happily conversing with moments ago. She was doing this off her own back. Mako, the minute manipulator wasn't quite happy with murder. He knew that he had catalysed this attack, and he knew that Swindler would have kiled the tom anyway, yet the cold blood running in her veins didn't make Mako wary, or jelous. Because he knew, that he could always control her again, he could use her in any way he wanted, and she wouldn' know, just like she didn't now...
I used to dance to the Devil's beat, and if I could bust into hell I would
'Next time you want me to do your dirty work...Just ask. I'll be happy to oblige.'[/strike] At these words, Mako smiled. A deeply unnerving sight with his pointed black teeth glitering, his black lips pulled back revealin a tongue so black it must seem like he'd been chewing death-berries. He laughed, a sound like birds singing. His laugh was not mocking, even Mako wouldn't dare mock Swindler. But he'd already decided that he wouldn't tell her. She had just obliged. The mighty Swindler was already doing the dirty work of a mouse sized cat, without even knowing it. Mako's orbs widened and two pools of electric blue light flooded the small clearing. Imagine what he could make her do. Imagine what he could make anyone do. Mako hissed in delight at his thoughts and make his way over to Chupacabra's corpse. He settled beside the large body and began to slice his way to the still warm heart, licking the blood from the cat's wounds as he dug.
I'm tearing down these walls right now, they're coming down because I belive

//Swindler\\
Take me for what I am Who I was meant to be Her heart pounded out an easy rhythm in her chest, and she settled into it for a moment. She let it take her away, into the deep recessess iof the forest around her. She flicked her ears taking in the sounds around her and heard the rustle of leaves far above her head. She glanced up, just a shifting of the eyes really, and pinopointed the squrriel bouning between branches. She flicked her tail and felt the blood lust come over her along with something else. Her stomach rumbled slightly and she wanted to eat. She smiled ruefully knowing she could go back inside and gain access to all the food she wanted. but there was something enticing about catching her own food. She licked her lips and glanced back at Mako. She didn't feel him in her mind, but that didn't mean he wasn't there. She flicked her tail once more and then pushed off the ground in a powerful leap. Her claws connected with a branch about 15 feet from the ground, and she scrambled elegantly onto it. As her back feet hit the branch she was in the air again leaping for another branch and gaining on the small gray creature above her. She watched it as it cliombed higher oblivious to her claws only foxlengths now from it's soft flesh. Then it's eyes found her. It watched her land only a fox length from it and as if surprised and leaped across a large gap bwteeen two trees. She smuirked and followed in less than a heartbeat. Her front claws aiming for the things back and her back claws for the branch on which she would land.
The first hit their mark and a satisfying shriek danced across her eardrums as her claws sunk into bark to hold her steady. She reached forward and the cry of pain ended with a swift bite to the throat which flooded her mouth with blood and ecstasy. She smiled and took a small step off the animal. She picked it up in her powerful jaws, and looked toward the ground. Such a long way to fall, She thought and smirked. She began her quick decent. leaping from branch to branch and was on the ground, back where she started in a matter of moments. She looked at Mako and flicked her ears, dropping the meal on the ground before speaking. "Normally, i wouldn't be so quick to offer someone my friendship, but I think that we may make a good team oneday, with your power of mind, and my strength. We could be a powerful foe indeed." She said and flicked her tail to the squrriel before bending low to eat.

I wonder what would have happened
Mako sat unnaturally still, his glowing eyes never moving, butcatching ever movement Swindler made. He was impressed by that jump into the tree, but he never showed it or said as much. Living a life like the GEMs did, there was no room for praise of softness. It was kill of be killed. Mako the manipulator didn't really have to worry about that too much though. He could twist the thoughts of almost any creature he came across; Swindler had just helped for him to prove that. But he wouldn't mock her, of pick at her with criticism like he would after watching anyone else hunt. That in itself was high praise for Mako. Mako too was slightly hungry. The squirell which the large tabby was chasing would only be enough for Swindler; and besides, GEMs weren't into the habit of sharing fresh-kill.
If you were the killer and I was the hero
Once Swindler was on the ground once more, Mako un-froze and began searching the surroundings for his own prey. He was capable of taking almost anything he wanted; two-legs included, but wasting the juicy flesh and hot salty blood was a shame. Being only a very small cat, Mako didn't need much to ustain him. A rabbit would do. It would have to be his technique which he used to impress his new hunt-partner. He grinned at her, showing rows of unsettling sharp black teeth as she declared their friendship. The approval of Swindler would be a relief, a blessing or even a cure to a normal cat. To Mako, there was hardly any differnce between being Swindler's friends and being Flynn's friend. He could make his greatest enemy fall beofre his and declare his undying love to him. What was Swindler against that? Her summary seemed to doubt his physical strength. He'd show her. But he agreed; that they would be a formidable foe, and dipped his head to show it.
Would things be the same? Or would I have traded your life for my own?
A slight displacement of the air over his left shoulder told his exactly where his prey was. The rabbit was twice his size, maybe more, but Mako could hear th blood pounding through the rabbit's veins and his eyes took on a glazed shine. The mouse-sized black figure slipped across the clearing unseen and burried himslef in the shadow of a tall oak tree. He could tel by the rabbit's breathing rythym that it hadn't a clue he was here. Mako slithered forwards unil he was close enough to reach out and pat the rabbit with his paw, and then stopped. He felt for Swindler's mind to make sure she was watching. His unnatural eyes closed and he pushed upwards a few fox-lengths, somersaulting as he did so, and then twisted on his descent so he was squarely above the rabbit's shoulders and neck. Mako fell gracefully through the air until the moment of impact, when his whole body tensed and he pushed down. He felt the rabbit's spine, neck fore-limbs and pelvis crack under the force he'd exerted. He stepped down from his fleshy podium and opened his eyes to look at Swindler.
Would I have paid you debts in your place?

her eyes followed his movements, and she watched his skill as he took down and killed a rabbit of his own accord. She lifted a brow and snorted in annoyance. So he was a show off, just as much as she was. Well, he may have the power of brain and control, but she wasn't entirely helpless herself. She flicked her tail and bent down devouring the squirrel before her in a few bites. She flicked her ears back listening to the younger tom eat. She wouldn't let on that she was annoyed. She could control her emotions better than any other cat she had ever met. Thanks mom...that's one good thing I got from you... She flicked her tail again and lifted her body from the bent position. She licked the blood from her lips the taste sending a shiver down her spine. She looked at the tom and flicked her ears toward him. "What now oh brilliant one? We have eaten, and acquainted ourselves with one another. So where too now?" She flicked the tip of her tail. She had a plan of course, she had heard tell of large groups of cats that lived in the forests just outside the compound. She wanted to go see what they were about. She wanted to go and spy mostly. She wasn't afraid...she knew she could handle a whole group if the event called for it. She was a GEM, a diamond among stones. She looked over to the tom and smirked lightly. "Shall we see what there is to be seen within our kingdom?" She asked and with that stood and trotted off toward the edge of the compounds territory. She knew he would have to almost run to keep pace with her, his legs being so much shorter, but also she knew that if he was like her, he would never ask to slow down, nor would he need to. They were endurance runners. Speed and strength abounded within them.
